Ubuntu Release Party 11.10: Oneiric Ocelot 1

It hasn’t been that long ago that our last Ubuntu Release Party took place. It was the first one with some talks and presentations. Hopefully in the future there will even attend more folks and may be even do their own hacks on the party. Until the next one it still is a while, but despite everything I want to announce the 11.10 party in October taking place in syn2cat Hackerspace.

Oneiric Ocelot will be released – probably – on 13th of October this year. So we’ll do the party 2 days later on the 15th ’cause of organizational reasons. The last time there were only 2 and a half man to get everything up and working. So we’re desperately looking for some more people to help us organize stuff, take the event in the coming months out to the public and so on. As you can see the agenda of this event is growing and growing with every release, but every time more people get interested into it. Besides the idea of sharing freedom is worth the few hours spent on it and making a large great event possible.

More information are available on the wiki page of the last URP or the official website provided by Canonical the company behind Ubuntu.
And as I’m writing about it right now:

A big thanks to Petra working for Canonical for sending us the Ubuntu 11.04 CDs for our party and the coming months to spread the idea of the spirit of Ubuntu.

Hopefully you’ll join one way or the other.
Anyway, stay tuned!

On May 7th, 2011 I attended my first Ubuntu Release Party at Click (CIGL-Esch) and I was really happy trying the different versions, discussing with a LiLux member (unfortunately I forgot his name … it’s a shame) and installing the new version on my notebook.
It was a very interesting saturday afternoon spending some highly pleasant time together with other interested people. You were luckier than they have been, because they didn’t get the CDs in time to distribute them.
Next october I may eventually attend your party, too, so maybe we will meet for the next Ubuntu version.
    Kind regards, Philippe
